Our multidisciplinary growing team is looking to welcome a prototype engineer I with a background in hands-on fabrication and manufacturing. Requirements

Responsibilities:

The prototype engineer carries out rapid fabrication and assembly of cells, battery components and other subassemblies.

The engineer will maintain machine uptime and carry out daily procedures that ensure the production of high quality components.

This role will be hands on in the lab and split focus across three primary tasks:

  • Prep - 3D print, lasercut, clean, and visually inspect each piece used in an assembly

  • Build - Assemble and disassemble cell stacks and other subassemblies used within the lab

  • QC - Carry out various inspection and reporting procedures to verify high quality output.

  • The prototype engineer I is comfortable with a shop/lab environment, makes safety the #1 priority, and practices routine cleanliness and organization


Other duties:

Responsibilities may be changed or modified without notice. Should be able to lift 50 lbs, as well as stand up for the majority of the work day. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of shop equipment and processes (experience with 3d printers, CNC, laser cutting a plus)

  • Effective communication and organisational skill

  • Knowledge of inspection tools such as dial clippers, micrometers, profilometers and other shop related inspection tools

  • Ability to collaborate with design team in order to refine existing design efforts

  • Ability to follow established record keeping and safety procedures.


Education:

Completed undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields.
